Days of Wine & Roses

Monday, 16 July 2007 | 20:39

From Yahoo.com:

“It started about midnight on June 16 when a group of friends was finishing a dinner of marinated steaks and jumbo shrimp on the back patio of a District of Columbia home. That’s when a hooded man slid through an open gate and pointed a handgun at the head of a 14-year-old girl. ‘Give me your money, or I’ll start shooting,’ he said, according to D.C. police and witnesses.

‘We were just finishing dinner,’ Cristina “Cha Cha” Rowan, 43, told the man. ‘Why don’t you have a glass of wine with us?’

The intruder had a sip of their Chateau Malescot St-Exupery and said, ‘Damn, that’s good wine.’ The robber, with his hood down, took another sip and a bite of Camembert cheese. He put the gun in his sweatpants. ‘I think I may have come to the wrong house,’ he said before apologizing. ‘Can I get a hug?’”

(Full story here.)

Ah, the power of strong wine and human touch. It warms the heart, really. :P

Lost in the library

My readers will know that I endeavour to keep them abreast of the news of the day, keeping them informed of the most interesting, and stimulating, developments on the world stage.

In that vein, I feel compelled to draw the attention of my small but faithful flock of readers (especially those of the male persuasion) to this indispensable new product:

“…The vial is shaken gently, only a tiny amount of the precious, organic substance is applied onto the back of the hand, and the irresistable smell that exudes from a sensuous vagina immediately intensifies your erotic fantasies… Vulva Original is not a perfume. It is a beguiling vaginal scent which is purely a substance for your own smelling pleasure. Breathe in and enjoy, anytime, anywhere, the odour of a beautiful woman.”

For more information (and to order your very own vial!), visit the company’s official website – the address of which, if I’m not mistaken, is a clever pun in German (that most romantic of languages :P ).

Scent of a woman, indeed!

dancing.jpg
Photo: afterimagegallery.com

I could dance nightly just holding you tightly my sweet.
I could keep right on because you’re so light on your feet.
You’re easy to dance with.
There is no doubt in the way we stand out in the crowd.
Though it’s called dancing to me it’s romancing out loud.
You’re easy to dance with.
Loving you the way I do makes you easy to dance with,
That is why I’m always right on the beat.
All those charms in one man’s arms makes you easy to dance with.
I can hardly keep my mind on my feet.
Let’s dance forever come on say we’ll never be through,
It’s so easy to dance with you.

Sonnet XVII: Love

Thursday, 5 July 2007 | 23:36

monet-007.jpg

I don’t love you as if you were the salt-rose, topaz
or arrow of carnations that propagate fire:
I love you as certain dark things are loved,
secretly, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that doesn’t bloom and carries
hidden within itself the light of those flowers,
and thanks to your love, darkly in my body
lives the dense fragrance that rises from the earth.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you simply, without problems or pride:
I love you in this way because I don’t know any other way of loving

but this, in which there is no I or you,
so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand,
so intimate that when I fall asleep it is your eyes that close.

Pablo Neruda

Distraction

Wednesday, 4 July 2007 | 6:07

lachaise-010.jpg

Whenever skies look gray to me and trouble begins to brew
Whenever the winter winds become too strong
I concentrate on you

When fortune cries “Nay, nay” to me
And people declare “You’re through”
Whenever the blues become my only songs
I concentrate on you

On your smile, so sweet, so tender
When at first my kiss you do decline
On the light in your eyes when you surrender
And once again our arms intertwine

And so when wise men say to me
That love’s young dream never comes true
To prove that even the wise men can be wrong
I concentrate on you

La vache qui rit

Monday, 2 July 2007 | 20:42

Curiosity killed the cat, you know…

La cynique est... Végétarienne. Activist. Socialiste. Perfectionistic. Stubborn. Attentive. Curvy. Quiet. Rebelle. Feminine. Sensible. Opinionated. Généralement anxieuse. A closeted idealist.

Cet espace est... Un lieu bilingue, libre et ouvert, without censorship (unless you're an evil spammer, in which case I will happily drive a stake through your heart and proudly display your head on a pike), plein de poésie et de beauté (espérons). Now put on your reading glasses and get busy.
